Pamyua
Midnight weekend screenings happen on Friday & Saturday nights. Please be sure to arrive on Friday and/or Saturday night by 11:45pm for seating and the screening will start after midnight.
Run Time: 75 min.
As part of our LAT59: Filmmaker Forum, The Porcupine is proud to present Pamyua.
Composers Phillip Blanchett, Kristoffer Jul Reenberg and Ivan Night host a special concert celebrating the premiere of the film: In the Wake of Justice Delayed. The film’s soundtrack features classic Pamyua tunes as well as original scores made by the collective. One night only!
Pamyua showcases Inuit culture though music and dance performance. Their performances are a platform to share indigenous knowledge and history. Their style derives from traditional melodies reinterpreted with contemporary vocalization and instrumentation. Often described as “Inuit Soul Music,” Pamyua has discovered their own genre.
Pamyua’s performance is supported in part by grants from The Homer Foundation and The Aspen Hotel.
Tickets for the evenings performance cannot be purchased separately but are included in Saturday evening’s premier of In the Wake of Justice Delayed. Performance to follow the film.
